Recently, the Huizhou-to-Qingyuan section of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway, co-constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, won the only environmental protection award in the 2024 IRF Global Road Achievement Awards (GRAA).
The Huizhou-Qingyuan section of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway, located in central Guangdong Province, spans Huizhou, Guangzhou, and Qingyuan, with a total length of 125.28 kilometers. Completed and opened in October 2020, it reduced travel time between Huizhou and Qingyuan from 3 hours to 1.5 hours, benefiting around 28 million people along the route. The project passes through several ecologically sensitive areas, with beautiful natural surroundings and more than 60 scenic spots, making environmental protection and green construction essential aspects of the project.
